Ross Township Trustee | Candidate for Re-Election

“My only goal and purpose is to serve this community by providing exceptional resources and opportunities to every resident — with honesty, transparency, and heart.”

Eric A. Blackmon Sr. is a lifelong servant leader dedicated to strengthening the communities of Merrillville, Hobart, and Crown Point. Since being elected Ross Township Trustee in 2023, Eric has worked tirelessly to unite the township’s three communities, ensuring every resident has access to the support, programs, and resources they deserve.

Under Eric’s leadership, the Trustee’s Office has expanded access to essential services — from housing and emergency assistance, to school programs, food support, and senior initiatives. His focus on modernization and accessibility led to an improved Township Office at 26 W. 73rd Avenue, now featuring a welcoming lobby, private interview rooms, and public computer access for residents seeking help.

Eric’s passion for community shows in his hands-on approach — whether responding to the 2023 tornado recovery efforts, assisting families during the pandemic, or partnering with local organizations on programs like Angel Tree, food distributions, and monthly senior luncheons.

With over two decades of public and community service experience, Eric believes the strength of Ross Township lies in its people — hardworking, compassionate, and resilient. His vision for the next term is simple:

Unity. Transparency. Progress.

Eric is committed to continuing what he started — connecting our communities, expanding resources, and keeping Ross Township a place where everyone can thrive.

📍 Community First. Always.

Ross Township was established in 1848, named after pioneer settler William Ross — a symbol of leadership and perseverance. Eric carries that same spirit forward today, serving as a bridge between past and future, and a voice for those who need it most.
